let them eat cake...

I feel like Matt & I (or maybe it's just me) are in a bit of a wedding haze right now. We've had a bear of a time with the National Park Service getting the permit for the wedding. It took a handful of emails & phone calls just to get the application emailed to us. Once we sent in the money order (per their request) & application we never heard back & the deadline was approaching. When we contacted them to ask if they had received it we were told no & to just send it again (yeah, we'll just buy another money order for a couple hundred dollars). Luckily we had sent it registered mail & had proof they had received it a week earlier. Suddenly its oh yeah we already issued you a permit & sent it a week ago. Another week passed no permit & no answer to where it is. Another week passes & no permit. This time Matt calls & we're told oh yeah we've issued you a permit number but since you're getting married in fiscal '07 we can't send the permit until we know if the fees are changing in September. So, why didn't he tell us this three weeks ago instead of telling us he'd sent it...sigh. Maybe we should have just gotten married in a hotel ballroom...

On a good note, I'm thrilled with Dragonfly Cakes. Matt & I decided we don't really want a big cake but thought since most of the food at the reception will be finger food that petits fours piled on a cake stand would be fun. Lucky us this local bakery specializes in them! They have been so great so far...I sent them our wedding colors & a few sketches (which they thought were cute) & today I got this picture.
Petits Fours
With a note saying they thought of us when they did them. I love working with people who seem so enthusiastic about what they do & your event.

What else....well the dresses are bought & I got the favors yesterday which I think are so perfect. The best news is my dear friend Susi has offered to do my flowers! I love the fact they will be personal like that. This weekend I'll start assembling invitations & meet with the minister. & oh course knit like a mad woman on all the WIP....
