Jen made all sorts of variations for her knitting circle & sent the directions to do the chicken variation.
Chick Comb:
CO 4 stitches
Row 1: Bind off two stitches. K1 (2 stitches left)
Row 2: K1, kfb (3 stitches)
Row 3: Bind off 1 stitch, k1 (2 stitches)
Rows 4 & 5: Repeat Rows 2 & 3
Row 6: K2tog.
Break yarn, pull tail through remaining stitch. Sew comb on chick's
head,
running from front to back.
Chick Beak:
CO 6 stitches
Row 1: Purl
Row 2: SSK 3 x (3 stitches)
Break yarn, and with a tapestry needle, pull it through the remaining 3
stitches. Your yarn is coming out of the point of the beak. Fold the
little
beak in half and sew bottom edge to make a cone, then stitch to face of
chick below eyes.
