Most of my week has been spent on the downstairs bathroom...otherwise known as the project that will never end. Finally yesterday I finished painting it! Smallest room in the house & it took me over 2 weeks. I stripped the wallpaper, skim coated to cover some parts where the old paint came out & generally even out the walls & filled in some chunks where paint had come off the ceiling. Then I primed it. It still didn't look right because the skim coated areas were smoother than the rest. So, I was off to Diamond Lake Hardware for advice. The solution was put on two more coats of primer with a thick roller giving all the walls a little texture. Then I had to paint the ceiling (the last owners had painted it an ecru color but for some unknown reason only painted it to an inch from the edge). After two coats of white on the ceiling I painted all the walls Benjamin Moore Lennox Tan.
Now I've moved on to the guest bedroom. I originally had planned to strip the wallpaper in here too but this stuff is not coming off (it maybe because its been painted over). The last owners had also tried to take it off but then gave up & just painted over it. Unfortunately they pained over all the places they had ripped off the paper without sanding them of filling them in or anything, just right over the ragged edges. So my first step is to skim coat all the areas where the wallpaper has come off & other dents in the wall.
We've been wanting a chair for our bedroom. It need to be something on the small-side & short enough to fit under the knee wall. I've been eying the Dolce Chair from Target for awhile & this week it went on sale.
Next week the gas company comes to install the new fireplace, I can't wait.
Oh, it all looks great! Doesn't it feel terrific, each time you finish a project?
ReplyDeleteBTW, your bathroom color looks very similar to Kelley Moore's "Bradford Brown", which is the color of not only my bedroom, but also the outside of our house.
I like how color can tranform a room! I really like the classic look of the Lennox Tan!
