Challenge: Create an outfit & accessory using items from a party store. You can spend $100. The judges do not respond well to items that correspond to fabric (i.e. tablecloths). You can use a base fabric like muslin. Make sure to show us the items you start with this week.
Show your accessories from the Piperlime accessory wall.
Time: You have 14 hours to complete this challenge.
This has been my favorite challenge so far!
(Can you tell I actually took the time to put in darts at the bust line of the muslim underdress? I think it really helped with the fit.)
ChloƩ is ready to hit the red carpet or the hottest party in town in this shimmering dress made with ribbons from the party store. The ribbons were turned into 1/4-inch circles using a hole-punch & then layered on a muslin base. It is accessorized with a chunky silver latex bracelet made from a balloon & some strappy silver heels from Piperlime.
Let me just tell you about gluing all those little circles of ribbon on...
It took up most of my time but in the end I think the effect was worth it. I love the way it catches the light & how the silver ribbon almost looks like mother of pearl.

Don't forget to check out Susi's entry, I understand there is a top hat involved!

ReplyDeleteare you kidding me?????
ReplyDeleteyou rocked it!!!
Heidi said she would wear it. Micheal said "well done". Nina said "perfect, great length".
And the guest judged talked to you after the show about one for herself.
Congratulations! You won.
I'm sure our readers will agree.
Thank you *blushing* I tried to channel a little Laura Bennet with this one. I also tried to think of the "story" that Michael is always looking for.
ReplyDeleteI hope Tim Gunn is reading your blog. He would approve!
ReplyDeleteNow that I'm caught up on the show I think this outfit was cuter than any on the real runway!
ReplyDeleteAwesome!! Totally impressed with the shape of the dress and the use of the ribbons.
ReplyDeleteThat is so great! I immediately thought - I didn't remember that she has purchased sequins, then you reminded me that it was all cut ribbon! Love it :)
