Well they came to install the new gas fireplace insert on Tuesday. Of course with like most home improvements it wasn't as easy as it should have been. The new gas line is in & the vents are in the chimney but when it came time to install the insert we discovered the salesman had measured our fireplace as being almost 3 inches taller than it is. Luckily the installer was able to cut the 5 inch riser down to 2.25 inches & make the fireplace work.
Problem is the riser bar that would have covered the bottom was then too big & a new one has to be manufactured. Also the grill pieces for the top & bottom didn't arrive with the unit like they should of. So now the city comes tomorrow to inspect the new gas line then we have to get scheduled for the installation to be finished. I was hoping we'd be having a fire by this weekend but it doesn't look like that will happen. We were a little bit worried about how it would look with the black surround & fitting in with the style of the house but I think it looks nice especially with the extra addition of the doors.
The bathroom is all done & ready for guests next week.
I wish you could see the new light fixture Matt installed but its too bright with it on & too dark with it off.
I think I need to iron that shower curtain. Now all we really need in there is artwork. I have so textiles Maryann brought me back from Australia that I think would look great on the wall but the jury is still out with Matt.
The rest of the week has been spent on sanding, priming & painting the guest room (aka as Daria's room apparently).
Finished the last coat today so tomorrow I can get it all set up. We basically already had everything for this room except for drapes which I still need to pick up.
We finally found a dining room set we like at Crate & Barrel which is perfect timing as they sent us a 10% off certificate for everything we buy in one day. It looks like we may have also decided on a wall color for in there.
Lastly tomorrow we get our new washing machine, yeah no more machine that leaks water everywhere.
Its looking fantastic. Love that fireplace.
ReplyDeleteLooking great - can I just mention that you need to be careful what you hang on the wall in bathrooms because steamy atmosphere often equals ruined mouldy art...
